Product Description Small enough for the counter, but large enough for a full meal, this 3-cup Rice Cooker from Salton takes the guess-work out of making rice and cooks perfectly every time. Comes with a removable tray for steaming seafood and vegetables, a measuring cup and rice paddle.Features Include:Cooks up to 3 cups of dry rice; use also to steam seafood and vegetables Measuring cup and serving spatula included Uses 300 watts of power 8-in. high to knob of see-through glass lid 9.5-in. in diameter, including stay-cool handles
Amazon.com Review With a 3-cup capacity for dry rice (white or brown), this 300-watt electric rice cooker automatically produces up to 6 cups of cooked rice without sticking or scorching. Accompanying the cooker is a separate tray for steaming seafood and vegetables, a measuring cup for rice, and a plastic serving spatula. The cooker's glass lid permits monitoring of the cooking process, and the handles stay cool so you can easily move the cooker to the table for serving. The cooker is 8 inches high to the lid's knob and 9-1/2 inches in diameter, including handles. --Fred Brack

It Lived A Long And Happy Life August 7, 2003 62 out of 64 found this review helpful
I received this rice cooker three years ago as a gift from my mother and it has served me well over the years. It has recently given out, hence my reason for reviewing new ones online, but for the price it did well. I used this rice cooker on the average of two nights a week without any issues at all. I feel strongly that if you are looking for starter appliances for your home, then this would be a good way to go. I now know just how much I appreciate this appliance and I am willing to spend the money on a top of the line model, but like I said, if you are just starting out then this is the one for you.
My favorite appliance in my apartment March 13, 2004 24 out of 27 found this review helpful
I received this little gem of a rice cooker for Christmas a couple of years ago. I have not been able to stop using it. I love the thing to pieces as much as I love eating white rice. I think it is the most wonderful gift I had ever received for Xmas. It is definitely the most used appliance in my apartment. As a big rice eater, this little rice cooker is a godsend. It is so efficient because I can throw in the rice, water and salt, flip the switch, and walk away for 15-20 minutes. I don't have to worry about boil-overs or the rice burning at the bottom of the pan. Although I can use this to steam vegetables, I strictly use my rice cooker to cook rice. It is pretty simple to use. After 2-3 years of heavy usage, my little rice cooker is still functioning like it did the first time I used it. The rice cookers the negative reviewers got were probably defects because my rice cooker is still working and has yet to blow a gasket. The Salton 3 cup rice cooker is ideal for apartment dwellers like myself who lives alone. Contrary to what a few people might have to say about it, I love this rice cooker.
Wow! I must be one of the lucky ones! Not one problem! March 27, 2003 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
My rice cooker has been going strong since I got it one year ago, after my Father used it the year before that. The rice comes out great each and every time. My family eats rice, rice pudding or steamed veggies on avg. 8 times a month so my cooker gets a good workout. This nice little cooker does it's job great and I don't have any complaints!
12 Years and Running . . . June 9, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The 3-cup RA3 Salton rice cooker was the first kitchen appliance I ever purchased. I bought it for my dorm room the summer before my freshman year of college in 1994. I did all my cooking in that little thing - brown rice and beans, multi-grain cereals with dried fruits and nuts mixed in, steamed veggies - you name it. I ate so healthy that year, I even avoided gaining the dreaded freshman 15. 12 years later, that little rice cooker is still cooking rice like the first day I bought it. I have used it ranging from daily to weekly for over a decade, but last week I dropped the lid and broke the knob on top (the glass remained intact because it is very thick). I was able to find the knob for $4 by sending an email through the Salton USA website, so I guess it just wasn't this rice cooker's time to go.
Another great thing about this model is that the bowl is aluminum, so you don't have to worry about the toxicity of the non-stick coatings that seem popular with the more modern high-tech rice cookers. Plus, this model could not be more simple - just one button!
