Works well February 7, 2007 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
We've had this for about a week. It does a great job of keeping my daughter's 12x12 foot room warm all night when on low setting (700 watts) and about half on the thermostat setting. We left it on full blast in the garage for three hours when we first got it, and it definitely gave off an oil smell. We moved it to the bedroom after that & no smell at all. It does get a little hot to touch, so not for use around small kids, nor can you put it against draperies or furniture.
DeLonghi TRH0715 November 6, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
As my wife and I are perfectionistic designers, sifting through the vast variety of the space heaters available on the market was some task. We finally decided on one which would provide a slow constant wamth versus the hot air bast-types such as heat fan elements, coil heaters, etc. resting on the idea of purchasing a radiated type. We read the reports on DeLonghi products in general which overall had been favorable. We made the decision to purchase the non-timer version of the TRH0715T, the TRH0715. Although slighlty less expensive, in hind sight I think we would've spent the extra money and got the timer version. We have still to recieve our electricity bill, but guess it much more economical than slappiing down $1,500 for heating oil. The two we purchased, heat our main floor nicely (1,300 sq. ft.), and is not too inconvient when moving heaters from room to room if/when necessary. The overall design is thoughtfully provided in the form of a stealth high-heat resistant plastic handle, 4 castor-roller type wheels, a cord wrap attachement, and aerodynamic heating fins. The heat is slow and constant and does not get "burning hot" like coil-element heaters (I still don't suggest touching it however). This was a good purchase and we feel very good about the price we paid. If you're looking for a non-avant garde designed heater which provides a good steady soft heat, this is the one!
Great heater May 16, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I realy like this heater. It is quiet, safe, cheap to run, and has no bad odor. I heat my house with a wood burner, but at the end of the hallway where the bedrooms are can be cold in winter. This heater in the hallway warmed that side of the house just fine. Highly recomended, bought one for my parents, and they love it.
great little space heater at a great price December 19, 2006 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
I paid $15-20 more for this heater, so when my other one started making strange noises, I was glad to replace it at Amazon's place. Not really enough to fully heat a room, it's more of an auxiliary heater, drafty places that need extra warmth. I put it near my desk so that I am toast when I write. Very cheap to operate and great on cool morns when you don't really want a heater, but something to break the chill. Can adjust from 600 BTU-1500, without all the worry that electric heaters always give me.
We Love This Thing! October 17, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We purchased our DeLonghi oil-filled heater in hopes we could use our gas furnace a little less. It does that and more -- we hardly use the furnace at all anymore, and are more comfortable than ever. One huge advantage of the DeLonghi is that it uses natural convection and radiant heating to warm both the air and the contents of the room it's in. The furnace depends on blowing hot, dry air throughout the house, but the contents -- furniture, walls, etc. -- suck up a lot of that heat, so the furnace has to run quite a while at first. The DeLonghi heats the air that flows past it, which circulates itself, but kind of like holding your hand in the sunshine you can feel heat from the DeLonghi radiating throughout the room, heating up the walls and furniture directly. Besides the more comfortable heat, the DeLonghi is much cheaper to run simply because it doesn't heat the whole house like the furnace does. We simply move the DeLonghi if we need to heat another area in the house, but usually it sits in the space between our 14x20 living room and our 12x24 dining room and kitchen area, which keeps virtually the whole main floor of our house comfortable. We have experienced no odors whatsoever from our DeLonghi, and the click of the thermostat is so quiet my wife never noticed it until I mentioned it to her after reading some of the reviews here. Obviously, there may be difference from one unit to another; if we'd gotten a stinky or noisy heater we'd have exchanged it immediately. But I'd certainly recommend the DeLonghi to anyone who wants to reduce their heating costs while improving their comfort.
