Editorial Review Stamp, color, and create your own dinosaur-dotted landscapes! When inspiration hits, this simple stamp and pencil set lets budding artists create countless colorful scenes. Some of the biggest names in Dino-dom are here: Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Pteranodon, Ankylosaurus, Apatosaurus, and Velociraptor. Use the fiery volcano stamp to give them a landscape and then watch as these once-extinct dinosaurs multiply. The set includes five colored pencils for sketching, scribbling, or filling in the details, and two large pads of washable ink--a blessing for parents of the overzealous stamper. All of the included pieces stow neatly in the sturdy wooden storage bin with transparent lid, so artists always know what's available, and can tidy up after themselves when they're done. --Heather Lyndon
Product Description Mix and match the 8-9 playfully detailed stamps to create hundreds of beautiful scenes, and then color in the pictures with the 5 colored pencils! Each themed set includes 2 colored inkpads. Ages 4+. Each set 8.75" x 8" x 2".

A Must Have April 19, 2006 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I ordered this stamp set for my 3 year old. I was concerned when I was ordering it that it might not be up to the job of withstanding a 3 year old, due to the low price. When we recieved it, we tore it open to find the box was made of sturdy wood, as well as all the stamps. And yes, the ink really is washable! You just put the stamp under warm water and the ink just rinses away. It comes out of clothing, walls and just about anywhere else toddlers may think to put it. And the rubber stampers that are attached to the wooden blocks are very clear when stamped. There are no broken lines or unwanted blotches. I recently went to a local craft store looking for more stamps and found the prices to be overly rediculous. This kit is definately worth more than I paid. My son asks to play "dino stamps" all the time, and I don't mind pulling it out for him, because it really is washable. The colored pencils are wonderful, as the ink dries fairly quickly, so you can use them to color in the stamped outline. I most definately recommend this to anyone!

My son has had the Dinosaur Stamp Set for a little over 2-years now, and it's been well used. The box has a label on the outside, which indicates each dinosaur, and has really come in handy for me, as I know very little about the Mesozoic Era. The only shortcoming I've experienced with the Dinosaur Stamp Set is the worthless pencils. The pigment is so hard it doesn't work. I tossed them in the trash after our first play session, and replaced them with our Crayola pencils.
The stamps are nice and chunky for little hands. My son is delayed in fine motor skills, but has no trouble picking these up, and using them. He creates a landscape of plants, mountains, and rocks with markers, and then stamps, stamps, stamps. He actually prefers to color the stamps in with markers, but every now and then I notice he uses the pencils. The Dinosaur Stamp Set makes for a fun, creative time. This can be a messy activity though, so if you're not into using Spray `n Wash on your kids clothes, or spraying 409 on the table after play, you may want to avoid this toy.

Was looking for an art project for one of my grandson's that could "travel". This stamp kit is very portable, I really like the way everything packs back into it. Good choice of stamps that will provide a lot of story time for the active imagination of my grandson.

My three-year-old enjoys stamping with her own little box of stamps. The quality of the stamps is excellent. The lines are sharp and the stamps themselves are made of the thick blocks of wood you expect from Melissa and Doug. The rubber parts are attached very well, and the stamps pads included wash pretty well from foreams, fingertips, etc. No, the pencils aren't the best, but honestly, that doesn't matter. The stamps themselves are worth the money.
