5 out of 5 stars Works like a dream!   October 5, 2008

I was a little unsure about this purchase since most "seen on tv" products are cheap and don't work. BUT I love this! It worked on my 50 lb dog and my little 15 lb dog. My little dog is scared to death of noises, but she wasn't bothered at all. They both actually liked getting this done. I was in shock! It trimmed their nails perfectly. I give this product 2 paws up!

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2VB9QGNJVQP1B The Original Pedi Paws the Incredible Pet Nail Trimmer

An easy to use product that comes ready to use out of the box. Make sure to read the instructions on acclimating your pet to the item as it will make for the best continuing use experience.

I have added video instructions and maintenance tips to this review in the future because I believe they are relevant to the product and to the safety of pets in general.

5 out of 5 stars why all the negative reviews?   November 5, 2008

I have a wonderful german/collie/lab mix named Timmy that easily weighs 90 pounds or more. Timmy hated it when my dad cut his nails. For the first time, I did it last night with standard $5 dog-nail cutters. He was pretty good, but obviously nervous and I think thrilled that I didn't hurt him. I thought the nails were still too sharp and maybe still too long, but I didn't want to hurt Timmy. So I was at Bed Bath and Beyond today with a $10 off a $30 purchase and used it to buy this and batteries (not included). I just used it on Timmy, following the suggestions of introducing the tool to him except I did it all within a couple minutes, rather than days. I kept the orange top on and kept it on OFF and used it like a brush all over Timmy's fur, which he liked and let him sniff it, then I turned it on and he continued to sniff it and I made a big, excited deal about playing with it. Then I laid Timmy down on the ground like I did last night when I cut his nails and rubbed his belly, then I put one leg over his body and held one paw with my left hand (like I do when I cut his nails with regular clippers) and used the tool with my right hand. Man, TImmy was nervous at first, flinching when it made the noise as it touched his nails, but then he realized it didn't hurt and he just sat there and seemed to enjoy it! I made a big deal about how great he handled it and gave him a dog biscuit. I think this thing is fabulous. No pain for him, no worries for me, and neither Timmy or I will be dreading the next time his nails need to be cut.

Tip #1: if you have basic, cheap mittens, you may want to wear them on the hand that is holding your dogs paw, because to get a good cut on the dogs nails, the grinder might tap the top of your finger nail and might cause those white marks until the nail eventually grows out. If the grinder hits your skin, it doesn't hurt.

Tip #2: before you start, you may want to trim the hair between toes and use a damp napkin to clean off the nails so you can see as best as possible.

It still takes a good 10 minutes to do, but it's really so much better than nail clippers.

5 out of 5 stars does a good job   November 16, 2008

I think this is a good product. I used it on my 90 pound lab and my 60 pound border collie and it did a great job on their nails. I hated using a nail clipper because my dogs were afraid of it. I let my dogs sniff the product while it was running and while it was off for 2 days before I used it on them so they could get used to it. When I went to actually use it on them they both just laid still for me and let me trim their nails. Definately would recommend this one!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Product   October 30, 2008

This products solves a painstaking problem in my house with 2 dogs. None of them would take to nail clipping, so the task would get ignored.

PediPaws is fantastic. The instructions were written by someone who knows dogs and walks you through training them. In one night my dogs were trained and they now line up to have their paws done (treats are readily available with each nail clip).
