Product Description From the unique shape of its carafe to its state of the art brewing and filtering technology, this coffeemaker stands out from the crowd. Even if your tap water has more in common with a public pool than a mountain spring you'll be able to make a delightful pot of coffee thanks to the unique crystal filtration system. And you can program this machine to have your pot ready and waiting to greet you first thing in the morning, which is bound to make rolling out of bed a little easier.
Amazon.com Review Equipped with a dual filter to remove chlorine and minerals from tap water, this coffeemaker brews up to ten 5-ounce cups of full-flavored coffee with no off taste and prolongs the intervals between decalcification. The water filter is just one of the features distinguishing this handsome, compact coffeemaker. Thanks to an electronic control panel with a LCD display, the warming plate can be programmed to shut off automatically, and the 24-hour clock/timer can be set for brewing wake-up coffee. Other features include a 20-second pause in the brewing cycle when the glass carafe is removed for a midbrew pour, a carafe lid that seals in flavor and aroma, a warning light that indicates when the water filter needs replacing (replacement filters can be ordered separately), and an easy-to-read water-level window. The coffeemaker measures 7-1/4 inches wide, 12-1/2 inches high, and 11-1/2 inches deep (including carafe handle). --Fred Brack

Truly cool December 12, 2002 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I've enjoyed this coffee maker for nearly 2 years. I have one at home, and I'm ordering another one for the office. I still get compliments on its contemporary styling. The convenient list of features really delivers. I will never again own a coffee maker that does not have a water filter. I don't understand some of the negative reviews here: First, my carafe has never broken, and second, I never have any problems pouring in the water as long as I exercise a little commonsense. Some people are blaming the product because they can't pour water properly? At any rate, it's a great value and a truly cool coffeemaker.
Krups is the only kind to buy... September 2, 2002 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
My wife and I have used this model of coffee maker to make great coffee for the last six years. Although we paid a $$$$ for it at the time and I just about flipped because of the cost. Now I'm happily buying the same great coffee maker at great discount for Amazon.com. The controls aren't that hard to learn to use and can be easily mastered in about 15 minutes. Should the carafe ever break replacements can be purchased. Overall, I think this coffee maker represents an excellent value and produces far better coffee than other brands. For example, using the same kind of coffee beans and the same filtered water, I was able to make really good coffee in the Krups, while a comparable Black and Decker coffee maker produced horrible coffee. I don't think it's just a matter of cone filter vs. basket filter. I think it's a design thing and Krups has got it right.
The perfect coffeemaker? September 18, 2003 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I'll be frank -- I'm a medical student and I don't demand a lot from my coffee. I want it hot. I want it strong. I want it fast. I want a lot. The Krups delivers on all counts, plus it's got the extras that fill out my weekends. There are a lot of misconceptions on this carafe. It's a jewel. It doesn't break -- *you* break *it*. I've had my Krups a year, and this carafe keeps heat in better than any other non-thermosed one I've seen. I luv it. It's been on my countertop. It's been in my sink. I haven't broken it. I luv it. The design on this Krups is just darn great. I really, *rilly* hate those other coffeemakers with their swing-out filter trays and dumpy flat-bottom filters. Bah. Krups got it right with the top-hinge design & hit a grand-slam by going with the cone filter, which gets the java stronger & tastier. And, oh, man, is this easy to clean. No stupid hinges on the carafe lid. Just pops off and back on. No goofiness with the filter retainer. Out, in the sink, back in the Krups. Other features on this Krups are great also, like the water filter (which, btw, I have never had a problem buying replacement filters for) and the timer and what else? Am I forgeting something? Oh yeah, the auto-off feature. Duh. The best coffeemaker I've ever owned.
One Good Coffee Maker March 6, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This review is for you if like me you don't like to have to give up on a good old coffee maker, tried and true, but which now is obsolete and has finally bit the dust. After a couple years, I became curious to see what the new kinds of Krups coffee makers look like. I couldn't tell one from another at first, but after several days it became clear that the Crystal Arome Plus Time was the one for me. First, for the timer. Second for the microwavable carafe, which also happens to be spherical in shape and nestles beautifully in the space provided for it on the warming plate. I was surprised when I saw the actual coffee maker. I had high expectations. It exceeded them. Its appearance in real life is very impressive. The best thing about the spherical carafe is how surprisingly easy it is to pour from, into a coffee maker that is easy to pour into, to fill it with water. The lid of the coffee maker is hinged at the back and swings up to provide access not only to the water tank but also to the removable filter holder. I bought this coffeemaker in white, partly because it was $10 cheaper than black, even though I expected white to stain. What a pleasant surprise it was to see that the filter holder inside is black! Features a rotary switch with clearly marked positions for setting the clock or timer, or choosing ON, OFF or AUTO. The LCD readout is nice to look at and easy to read. I bought a goldtone filter because the previous Krups I used for a long time had a permanent filter. The new metallic filter seems to be an improvement since the filter mesh is extremely fine. I love this coffee maker.
You Can't Go Wrong w/ Krups September 16, 2002 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After having my Krups of 10 problem free years finally give out, I purchased this one for the Krups name and perfect combination of features for my needs. Once again I am as happy as can be. The coffee is delicious, it brews quickly, nice and hot, and the design is compact and clean. With the added feature of a water filter, this model will wake you up to the smell of great coffee. I enthusiastically recommend this product.
