Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
If you've ever burned a pot roast or boiled a three-minute egg until it turned to rubber, you need a better timing system. The loud, 30-second alarm on this timer ensures that you won't forget to turn off the stove or rotate the turkey. It's also portable, and sticks on any metal surface, so if you have to leave the kitchen area, wafting smoke won't be the first reminder that a meal is ready. Easy to use and program, the timer comes with one AAA battery. --Laura Cuthbert

5 out of 5 stars Timing made simple   July 5, 2000

If you want a simple timer thats easy to set and use - this one's for you. The case is solid and moisture resistant so greasy fingers don't pose a problem. The kids use it to time their chess moves too. High quality and low cost - I rate it 5 stars!

5 out of 5 stars Best Timer I have had.   October 11, 2006
I have had this timer for at least three years and use it very often for any number of occasions I need timed, not just for cooking or baking. I could not get through a week without it and this timer has had a real workout in the past three years. I just signed onto Amazon to purchase one for my daughter. Unfotunately, I see it is not available. Drat!

5 out of 5 stars Good Cooks   August 20, 2001

The first Polder timer I purchased was for my wife of 57 years. I married her because she is such a wonderful cook !!! Seriously, she has become so dependent upon her timer, that I wonder how she managed so beautifully all these years.

I just purchased a second timer to give to her sister. I hope to give more of these timers to the cooks in the family.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Little Timer   November 6, 2000

I just received this timer yesterday, and started using it right away. Unlike the reviewer who panned it, I think it's actually quite nice. The controls are easy to use, and the alarm is just the right tone. I have no problems turning it on and off and setting the timer. My 10 and 11 year old children are able to operate it, so this thing is easy to use! The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I have a hard time rating something so mundane as a kitchen timer 5 stars! For 10 bucks you can't go wrong with this!

4 out of 5 stars Nice and easy, mostly   August 25, 2000

What a useful thing to have in the kitchen - I can't believe I did without one for so long! The display is nice and clear, and the alarm beeper loud enough to hear from outside the kitchen.

Two smallish gripes - firstly you need to keep pressing the set buttons for each minute/second, so if you want 45 minutes you need to press the minute button 45 times, with a beep at each one - slightly irritating! Second, the magnet on the back is just in the center of the timer and not very wide, so while it is strong I have found that if you hit the off button in a cooking panic it falls right off the refrigerator every time!

But mostly it's a very useful thing to have, and for the price I shouldn't complain, should I?
